That perfect fizz in a soft drink is the end result of a precisely controlled industrial process. Here is what happens inside a modern CSD plant, stage by stage.
1. Water Treatment
Water is 85–90% of the product. Raw water passes through clarification, sand and carbon filtration, RO and UV/ozone treatment to reach exacting standards — because any off-taste in water becomes an off-taste in the drink.
2. Syrup Preparation
Sugar is dissolved into simple syrup, filtered, and blended with flavour concentrates, acids and preservatives in precise ratios to create the finished syrup. Brix and acidity are verified at every step.
3. Proportioning & Chilling
Finished syrup and treated water are blended in exact proportion, then chilled to 2–4°C — cold liquid absorbs and holds CO₂ far better than warm liquid.
4. Carbonation
The chilled blend is saturated with carbon dioxide under pressure in a carbonator. Carbonation volumes are product-specific: colas, lemon drinks and sodas each have their signature fizz level.
5. Filling & Capping
Counter-pressure (isobaric) fillers fill bottles under CO₂ pressure to prevent gas loss and foaming, followed immediately by capping with controlled torque.
6. Coding, Labelling & Packing
Batch coding, labelling, shrink-wrapping and case packing prepare the product for dispatch, with online inspection rejecting any underfilled or miscapped unit.
